October 23rd City Council Meeting

The City Council continued their discussion on the Preferred Land Use Map at the October 9th City Council meeting. The City Council discussed the following areas: Pierpont, Arundell & North Bank, Eastside, Victoria, and SOAR.

October 9th City Council Meeting

The City Council continued their discussion on the Preferred Land Use Map at the October 9th City Council meeting. The council discussed the College and Johnson areas. The City Council continued the discussion to the October 23rd City Council meeting.

September 25th City Council Meeting

The City Council discussed the Preferred Land Use Map at the September 25th City Council meeting and provided an endorsement of the preferred land uses for the Midtown and Five Points/Pacific View Mall areas. The City Council continued the discussion to the October 9th City Council meeting.

September 11th City Council Meeting

The City Council discussed the Preferred Land Use Map at the September 11th City Council meeting and provided an endorsement of the preferred land uses for the Westside area. The City Council continued the discussion to the September 25th City Council meeting.

August 22 and 23rd Planning Commission Meeting

The Planning Commission discussed the Preferred Land Use Map at the August 22nd and 23rd Planning Commission meetings and provided a recommendation to City Council.

Public Land Use Alternatives Engagement Activities

The City of Ventura hosted a series of workshops, meetings, and surveys during the land use alternatives phase of the General Plan Update. Your input at this critical part of this multi-year process helped define the future land uses and address important issues such as affordable housing, economic development, climate change, public services, and community character. Past Engagement Events

“Pop-up” workshop. During the months of September and October 2022, the General Plan Team organized pop-up meetings at various locations around the city seeking input on the alternatives.

A virtual Downtown area meeting was held to discuss the land use alternatives for the Downtown area. There were two meeting options for residents and businesses held in October 2022. Community members are welcome to join one or both.

Community Council meetings were held in September 20233 to discuss specific areas of the city in more detail. The team presented at the Westside, Midtown, Montalvo, East Ventura, Pierpont Bay, and College Area Community Councils. All of these meetings were virtual. Meeting details can be found at each community council’s website, linked below. 

The General Plan Team held in-person and virtual office hours in September 2022 for community members to discuss questions and discuss the land use alternatives.

The General Plan Team held in-person and virtual citywide workshops to explore land use across the entire city. Spanish interpretation was available at both workshops.
